I was wandering along Havana’s famous seaside boulevard, the Malecón, when I spotted a group of young men enjoying themselves jumping from the seawall into Havana Harbor. They would start on the opposite side of the street, wait for a moment without traffic, and then run across the road, leap onto the wall, and launch themselves into the air, sometimes diving or turning flips as they plunged into the water. Then they’d clamber out and do it all again.
I sat down on the wall a short distance away and kept my camera trained on the spot where they were jumping so that I could capture their leaps in mid-air. These are some of the results.
